Web High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve last table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a large pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest players anywhere in the world. While wagering on net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently participates in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Gus frequently buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all in. I accept that Gus is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has little or no reason to play at the table with the min buy-in.

Playing for the min takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total dollar value. I think tv can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world may be guys you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be seen playing internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in big stakes omaha hold’em and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in money rounds?
